Volunteers are shown with a portion of the tires collected at the speedway

during the recent Whitley County tire amnesty program.

An estimated 44,000 tires, three tractor-trailer loads, were turned in at the track,

with a similar number being collected at the county highway garage.

2008 Pure Street rules posted October 21 in Pure Street section.  Other divisions still under review.  Final rules revisions should be posted in near future.

MUFFLER RULE (as previously posted, this is a further clarification posted October 21)

Sound regulations will require that cars not register more than 100 decibels, measured 100 feet from the track.  All cars will be checked during March, and must be in compliance before competing in the first race.

RULES CHANGES FOR 2008

Some rules changes for 2008 have already been implemented.  More may be forthcoming

as discussions and revisions continue.

Following rules changes have been announced:

SLAMMER SERIES

ENGINES, Section B, No. 5

Intake must be stock cast iron.  Headers will be permitted.

Add to CHASSIS, BODY, INTERIOR, No. 8

Maximum four-inch (4") tall spoiler will be allowed.

ALL SERIES

Add to CHASSIS, BODY, INTERIOR

Mufflers will be mandatory.  Minimum acceptable mufflers will be supplied by the track

at cost.  Exhaust must exit behind the driver.  Cars may not register more than 100 decibels,

measured 100 feet from the track.

TIRES

LATE MODEL - SUPERTRUCK - SPORTSMAN

Must run 1132 tires on right side.  May run 1132, 1322, or 2402 tires on left side.

May purchase four (4) tires per month, beginning in March

CLASSIC/VINTAGE

Must use 10-inch wide tires

PURE STREETS - SLAMMERS

Must run white letter scuffs.  May use 1132, 2402, 2372, 2373, or 2376 tires.

See division rules section for maximum depth limit.

CHEVETTES

Must use Goodyear 8-inch track tires.

MINI-SLAMMER

Must run street legal DOT tires.

NOTE

Yellow letter scuffs will be available for left or right use only on

Supertrucks, Sportsmen, Classic/Vintages, Pure Streets, and Slammers.

TIRE PRICES

Goodyear 10-inch stickers - $80 each, $300 per set.

Goodyear 100-inch scuffs - $20 each, $60 per set

Goodyear 8-inch stickers (Chevettes) - $60 each, $220 per set.
