DAVID WALTERS WINS FEATURE, DASH, & HEAT RACE IN

SMITH AUTO SERVICE & TIRE CENTER SUPER STREET SERIES

   David Walters of Corbin, driving the Tony Hoffman Entertainment Camaro No. 80, earned his second feature race win of the season in the Smith Auto Service & Tire Center Super Street Series, and got to carry the checkered flag as well after the trophy dash and his heat race.

   The feature was the only main event on the program which, after an aborted first start, went the complete distance without a caution period.

   Walters started fourth in the 30-lap feature, and was in third place behind Eddie Stewart of Manchester and Ed Murray of Williamsburg at the completion of the first lap.

   On the second trip around, he went to the inside of Murray and the Reed's Transmission Camaro No. 11 in the second turn and powered down the backstretch to take over the runner-up spot.  A lap later, he passed Stewart's Stewart Racing Silverado No. X for the lead in the same manner.

   His lead was contested all the way by Murray, who was the fast qualifier at 14.350 seconds.

   They were bumper to bumper for more than 25 laps, until Walters pulled out to a margin of about a car length in the final two trips around.

   Paul Viars finished third in the Four Lane Auto Sales Ford No. 23, with Stewart taking fourth.

   Fifth went to Jason Hughes of Manchester in the Hughes Racing Camaro No. 74, followed by Clif Partin in the Rick's Auto Camaro No. 3.

   Based on laps completed, Anthony Standifer of Corbin was seventh in the Standifer Racing Camaro No. 1x, with Teddy Gregory of Corbin eighth driving the Gregory Racing Chevrolet No. 51.

   Jared Dickey of Corbin and his Cumberland Falls Auto Sales Dodge No. 15x were unable to start because of a mechanical failure in practice.
